Hi BB!
Good blog.. with lot of comments.. I read all of them :-)..well, I don't want to be a "granny" with old fashion ways and ideas but all of you guys seem to stop at the point that friendship is sacrifice. But why is it that it is being done again and again?? The movies are like old wine in new bottle.. the core stuff is the same...how much ever you debate, it comes down to just one thing and that is our culture.. It has always been that we need to give others what we have.. it has been our deep phylosophy to give or to scarifice what you think is yours.. this is for the enlightenment or for spritiual development of oneself.. if you debate about something with out considering the whole picture, what conclusions can you make??
Movies are movies.. half of the time ppl who make don't know what they want to tell and another half ppl who see don't understand what they see..the 'real' meaning is lost somewhere in between... .Giving/sacrificing, seeing your happiness in others is what we have been taught from the childhood.. how many of us want to say our parents did not teach this in our childhoods??.. share share share is all we are taught.. but why should we is something which is most imp to be taught along with this is my opinion.. hope you agree with me on this..

Hello Highspirit!
Thank you for your wonderful compliments..
Now coming to your query, as I said in the story, she thought it was some kind of joke, she went there to fire that guy who tried to pull such prank on her but she did not find anyone there but is surprised to know that he knew her favorite ice cream and the library she visits.. like her friend Smitha, she is also thinking that she is having some secret lover.. but since she made up her mind about her marriage, she wants to meet this guy and tell him not to bother her...but after the library incident she is both scared that this guy is either dangerous (psycho) or too desperate for love.. but since in the library slip he did not mention any place or time, she doesn't want tell about this to her parents and bother them. All these are Rita's thoughts, comming to our hero, he fell in love with her first, he tried to get her attention by going to the church which she visits (where he suceeds, because Rita does notice him), he conviced his parents for the marriage. He then tries to give a chance to Rita by going to her office wantedly but she never tries to speak to him so he approches her parents thru Father Samuel. Only after finding out that Rita's parents are OK and Rita had agreed, he tries to play all those pranks on her.
Rita is a confused and insecure girl, she had already made up her mind about love marriages, she is scared that she might hurt her parents or hurt herself if she does something like that.. so she wants an arranged marriage but after seeing him in the church, she is torn apart.. she doesn't know what to do..but in the end she tells her parents that she would marry the one whom they choose for her. The hero understood her state of mind, so he tried to give her what she wanted in the way she wanted it.. that is arranged marriage.. but he also wanted to give her something which she would cherish her life.. hence the pranks and the proposal!! And by the way, hero got all the information, like her tastes and interests from her sister when he meets them in the church he never speaks to any librarian at all..
Thanks once again for taking time to comment..

Hi Nargisji!
Really wouldn't it be wonderful if you got a gift like that from your husband? When I wrote this, my husband was saying "Ok I need to think of a better gift than this now for your 50th B'day"
I told him he had 20 more years to think and decide on it

.. What is life if you are not content with it..you can never be happy if you are not. Be happy and make people around you happy...
Ektabandari : I am glad I lifted up your spirits..
..Thank you for your blessings..I do have a beautiful family and it means a world to me.. and that's what inspires me to write .. yeah, pity that the family values are going down from generation to generation... can't blame them entirely for that, 'cause if parents don't teach them from a very young age about relationships and family, this big world of monsters will suck them up into it's web and they never know and never will..
Hi ma'am!
What a beautiful blog... made a world of difference in the sulekha blogs.. you said what every human should realise in such a subtle and light manner. I don't know if everybody who read your blog understood the real spiritual meaning behind the conversation in the story but I really liked what you were saying.. such depth and understanding of life is rare to see these days. And being able to put it in words, that too in such a simple way is just amazing.. you just summed up all the religious scriptures in this small blog... I am out of words right now... thank you for such a wonderful and meaningful blog..
Here are some of the beautiful lines which I liked...
“Assigned action by God is His gift to us and doing it gracefully with no pomp is our way to fulfillment. But we human beings talk more about it than we actually do. Hence work we do is often impure.”
“I am speaking about people who have every material happiness yet feel the void deep inside. They are terribly lonely. They have nothing more to chase, have everything yet want something. In finding that, they chase all the wrong things like status and fame. Only a fortunate few realize that the identity they are searching for is self-identity.”
“Then why do you talk and explain to them? Be Silent and focus on your work. Let that action manifest in purity and nothing else,” the breeze tells me. “Don’t make your lack of discipline and your laziness an excuse. Nothing on earth can stop purity to manifest. If anything is stopping it, that’s you and you alone.”

Supriya - As Thousand Dreams was saying, it is very common these days to leave children in India and come to US, please don't ask me why because everybody has their own reasons for doing so.. couple of my friends have done it and beieve me it is not easy for the kids and the for the parents.. anyhow, my attempt was to bring out the emotions of a mother who is meeting her son after some time.. I am sorry that you could not appreciate the story..
may be I will do better for you next time.
Sivapriya - Thanks buddy..
After Supriya's comment, I thought my blog was doomed.. you made my day.
Cheti - Thanks for your comments.. As I was saying the concept of leaving kids behind is not new, many are doing it.. My husand left me behind when we came to US for the first time.. Now we cannot really plan everything in our lives, probably the couple thought the US offer would not come so soon..so they might have had the kid.. sometimes life is not what you expect
!!
Kalyanee - I really wanted this blog to be different, more closer to life. Thanks for liking my style of writing.. The name, I don't know, I think I got it from news or something.. did not give much thought about it..
Rutuja - Thanks a bunch for liking it.. I think you really got what I wanted to tell.. my main effort was to bring out the emotions of a mother.. Was it that lengthy
?? I guess I wanted to tell in detail every small thing.. next time I will try to do the best..
Thousand Dreams - Welcome dear..
I think this is your first visit to my blogs.. hope you liked it. Thanks for helping me in clearing things for Supriya..
.. I guess things have changed these days and people are going with their families even if they are going for the first time.. It was couple of yrs ago that we had come to US.. so I don't know..
